Puppy Fair

One of my favorite memories is the puppy fair at Dunning Motor Sales in Cambridge Ohio. Lola and I attend every year. The events include a obstacle course, adopting center, fashion show, talent show, treat bar. Lola loves making new friends. A lady had 6 of the same small white puppies on leashes, of course Lola must get her leash tangled up with theirs and it takes about 10 minutes to get untangled. A little girl comes up and asks if she can take Lola on the obstacle course. Everything goes well until Lola falls off the side and when the girl doesn't let go of Lola's leash she almost fell victim to a puppy hanging. Next is a trip to the treat bar where Lola chooses a mix of peanut butter and liver treats (not a good combination). Finally its the annual fashion show, we came in second. We lost to a dog in a TUTU !!! Our out fit was much more thoughtful, I wore my greek letters F.A.D. and she wore a t-shirt I made with the greek letters Delta Omega Gamma sisterhood of D.O.G. Its all worth it when I see Lola snuggled in the passenger seat, munching on her peanut butter and liver snacks. This year her outfit will defiantly win, no matter what.

Love

Loves  is perceived differently for many people. When we are children love is someone who sits by them on the swing set. When we are teenagers love is who writes a love note asking you to prom. When we are in college, love is the next person that walks into the party with more beer. Love is confusing, tough, and stressful. However if you are one of the lucky ones to experience true love, nothing is more fulfilling and beautiful. I can't tell you the next chapters of love because I have not experienced it yet. I don't think that love is something that you can sit back and enjoy, it takes a lot of work, but how much work is too much work to be worth it? No body will tell you a true answer because it is different for every person.

“It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death.”

Future

When I first went to college I never thought it was going to end. the constant parade of papers, project, and final made it impossible to like college. When I joined  the F.A.D sorority, I hoped college would never end. However all good things must come to an end. Looking back at my three years in F.A.D. I know for a fact that it was one of the best decisions of my life and the memories that I share with those girls will be in my heart forever. Now as I attend my last college class I wonder whats next. I know that staying in New Concord, Ohio is not an option for my. I want to go somewhere that I can make a name for myself. I want to see things and go places that most people have not. I know that if I work hard I can do all of those things.

Annual Fish-Off 2012

Growing up in Quaker City, Ohio there is nature all around. Walking threw the woods to pick up interesting rocks and twigs becomes a game. Living in the country, in a small town with no spot lights, you often must find ways to entertain yourself. My family chose fishing. When I went off to college one of the simple events that I still enjoy is driving home, loading up the truck with tackle boxes, rods, bait, and heading to the lake. Not that my family is any different than any other semi-competitive family. So we started a tradition of the Annual Fish-off. Hear are the rules. One; no matter the size of the fish, it only counts as one. Two; fish can only be counted when the family is fishing together. Three; at the end of the season the loser buys dinner for the winner at the winners restaurant choice. It may be silly but there is no where I would rather be than sitting in lawn chairs, fishing with mom and dad.

Lola

One of the oldest sayings in the English language is "man's best friend", well in this case it is "women's best friend". One of my bright ideas while in college was getting a puppy while I lived in a dorm. As I skimmed the paper for one those post that stated "free puppy to good home" (because I was broke) how was I going to pay for food, medication, ect? Anyway as I dialed the number and asked for the last female pup, I jumped in my car to pick her up. I drove down the narrow ally, I stopped the car to see a mid-sized house with peeling off paint and a broken window. Awesome I thought, flashes of those horror movies where the college girl gets stuffed in a basement and murdered. I walked to the front door and knocked. I had a very short conversation with this man, and he left to get my new best friend.
As the man returned with a tiny brown and white puppy with brown spots of her nose, It changed my outlook on adorable. At the first moment as her untrimmed toenails and itty bitty paws touched my hand I knew I would love her forever. I took her to my car and gave her some snasusages I had bought her and slipped her tiny pink rhinestone collar with a heart shaped "Lola" charm, on her neck, a flee jumped to my hand. After a through flee dip and some puppy chow it was time to show my parents what I had "found". My dad looked at her and said "What the H**l is that". My mom's of course already new, as she said I could keep Lola at home as I finished school.
She is now 3 years old and couldn't be happier. She enjoys trips to the lake, movie nights, spa days, nap time, fairs, festivals, pet shows, among many other events. One of the most exciting is the annual "Puppy Fair" at the park. She has been there for me through many hard times as a fluffy pillow. As I will always be there for her.

Server: Good vs. Bad

Being a server definatly has its ups and downs. This job takes organization, skill, balance, and a little bit of luck that the customer I'm serving has worked in food and beverage before and understands that I cannot do 19 things at once. This is usually not the case. This job is one of the most annoying and rewarding jobs I have ever had.
Some advantages of this job is the money. On a busy night I could walk away with 2-3 hundred $ in tips. Working in a resort restaurant the summer months are the busiest. Another advantage is the people. Building the relationships with people as you work in a somewhat hectic work place is a way to make friends. Friends that are always up for a game of throw the jelly packets around the kitchen until a manager walks in. There are always those people that are unwilling to help others, those are usually the people that I walk away from when their tray of food is sliding into a customers lap, instead of readjusting that plate before it leaves the kitchen.
Some disadvantages of working in a restaurant; you must have somewhat thick skin and an ability to hold your tongue when a customer is yelling at you because their food is cold, when the only reason it was cold was it sat on their table while they talked about themselves for 45 minutes until they decided to eat.
However working in a restaurant is the best job I could have asked for while being a struggling full-time college student.

Senior Year

Back in 2008 on August 25 I made the nervous walk from my dorm room to my first college class. The class was English 110- Composition. Now as a senior I look back and think that college has went by so much faster that high school. Of course the main dilemma in high school is "what your going to wear that day" or "what are my plans for the weekend and who am I going to go with". In college my main concerns were "how am I going to afford four years here" and "How do I find time to sleep with this term paper due at 8am".
College has been the absolute best time of my life. I would not have made it through without my F.A.D sisters and a 24 hour circle k. Joining a sorority was the best decision I could have ever made. the memories that I have made with them will be in my heart forever. College was not always easy, I have had all-nighters, and wonders if I could even get through it. Although I would not have changed one thing about my time at college. I have learned who I was and where I want to go.

Owl Crafts

The world of crafts is growing larger with all the discoveries of new materials and new ways of putting them together. Crafts can range from very intricate and expensive or very cheap and easy. Crafts can be a great way to relieve stress, entertain children, and bring families together. Craft stores include JoAnn's fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Crafts 2000 just to name a few. Online websites are becoming very popular with the addition of online outlines and ideas.

Owl Facts

Owls are known for their distinctive calls, and distinguished looks. There are 250 different types of owls. There are two main types of owls, barn owls and true owls. I became interested in owls when I joined the F.A.D sorority, who's mascot is the owl. The owl is a symbol of wisdom.
A quote from owl facts.com describes barn owls "have a heart-shaped face, long legs and powerful talons. Barn owls are medium-sized birds with a wingspan of about 3½ feet. There are 16 species of barn owls, including the greater sooty owl, Australasian grass owl, ashy-faced owl, barn owl and Sulawesi owl".

The quote from owl facts.com that describes true owls "are more diverse than barn owls, with nearly 190 species in about 23 genera. Some better known true owls include screech owls, horned owls and saw-whet owls. True owls vary in size from the tiny elf owl to the bulky Eurasian eagle owl. True owls have a round facial disc, a short tail and a large head. Their color is muted (consisting of mostly brown, rust, gray, white and black) and their pattern is mottled, helping to conceal them from both predators and prey".
